Back-to-School Lunch Ideas

School is back in session and the last thing we feel like doing is coming up with fun and healthy

lunch ideas for our cute but ever-so-picky children. Am I right? Congratulations, Chef V to your

rescue with realistic ten-minute lunch ideas to satisfy even the pickiest palate! Here are her top

5 go to lunch ideas for elementary-aged school kids:

1) Taco Builds: what’s more fun than building your own taco? Grab your cutest Tupperware

container and throw in all of your fave taco toppings. Lie a soft shell tortilla on top,

close it up, and voila! Everything your child needs for a fun lunch in one box. They open it up and have their very own taco lunchable to build at school!

2) Roll-ups! Be creative with this versatile lunch. Use bread or a tortilla, add your fillers, and roll it up! Use meats and cheese, fruits and cream cheese, veggies and hummus, etc.

Cut in bite-sized pieces and pair with healthy side options!

3) Lunch swords—just the name has all the boys starving! Take skewers and add your

child’s fave bite-sized foods—cheese and pepperonis/ham/turkey, colorful veggies and

fruits, etc. These always pair well with grain crackers and applesauce.

4) Pasta salad is a surefire way to hide veggies from the pickiest eater. Chop them up finely and add in your favorite protein, then toss in their favorite salad dressing. This lunch is filling and covers all their food needs in one bowl!

5) Quesadillas are far more versatile than we give them credit for. Let you child fill a tortilla with their fave meat and cheese, fold it in half and the quickest lunch award goes to you,

mom!

These are most beloved because they are completely customized to each child’s taste and are

easy enough that most elementary kids could even pack lunch for themselves. It’s a great

bonding moment for parents and kids to work together in the evening to pack lunches, try new

foods, and grow together in their culinary skills. Happy kids, happy life, correct? Buckle up, the

school year is just beginning! Stay tuned for more lunch ideas.
